Cross Country Skiing
With over 1,500 kilometers of interconnected cross country ski trails that range from beginner to rugged and advanced, the Cable area is home to one of the largest cross country trail networks in the country, the American Birkebeiner Trail. Also within the area is the north End Ski Trail, and many resorts offer their own groomed trails. A wealth of activities and competitions—like the American Birkebeiner, the world’s top cross country ski event, Junior Birkie, Barnebirkie, North End Classic, and many more—take place throughout the season.
Snowmobiling
Over 1,200 miles of interconnecting trail systems offer endless miles of uncrowded trails and wilderness seclusion. An additional 1,000 miles of unplowed Forest Roads 
provide even more rugged excursions, and many Cable trails connect to the Tri-County Corridor Trail that runs from Minnesota to Michigan.
Ice Fishing
Cable isn’t just popular amongst anglers during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Over 693 named bodies of water in Bayfield County offer access to a wealth of diverse fishing, while public and private boat launches offer easy access to the ice. Common winter catches include crappie, bluegill, perch, northern, walleye, and bass.
Ice Skating
Hit the ice for a leisurely skate, a lesson, or a friendly (or competitive) game of hockey
indoors or outdoors. Community rinks in Cable, Drummond, and Grand View offer recreational skating while most of Cable’s lakes freeze solid enough for safe skating (but caution is always advised!). The Town of Cable ice rink is located behind the Brick House Cafe.
